Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)

NO SURGERY

NO SCARS

QUICK RECOVERY
A small incision is made in your thigh or wrist.
Uterine fibroid embolization is sometimes called a “bandage procedure” because, instead of the large abdominal incisions that need to be made for other procedures, a small incision is all you need–small enough to be covered with a bandage.
Small beads are injected into the fibroid to stop blood flow.
Tiny beads are injected through this catheter and into the arteries supplying blood to the fibroids, blocking their blood flow. The catheter is then removed.
Fibroids shrink within 3 months, eliminating symptoms.
After the blood flow is cut off, the fibroids begin to shrink down, with 80-90% of women reporting a significant decrease in their symptoms after 3 months. Uterine fibroid embolization has a quick recovery time, with most women returning to work 3-5 days after the procedure.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS UTERINE FIBROID EMBOLIZATION (UFE)?
“Studies have shown that nearly 90% of women who have a UFE procedure experience significant or complete resolution of their fibroid-related symptoms (Radiological Society of North America, Inc., RSNA).”
